Madeline Andrews Escudero was a guest speaker in the Duke University Making Media Course in the Fall of 2009. This post was prepared by Anna Hevia in preparation for the visit.
Madeline Andrews Escudero is the Fashion Market Editor for Glamour Magazine. She graduated from Duke University with an English major and a Journalism certificate and began working at Glamour Magazine in 2006 as an assistant to Executive Fashion Editor Suzanne Yalof Schwartz. In August of 2008 she was promoted to Associate Market Editor, and occasionally wrote blog entries for the magazine’s online edition with fashion tips or chronicles of her fashion expeditions all over the country, an occupation she also undertook in her previous position. To celebrate her promotion, her former boss scheduled a trapeze lesson for both at the New York Trapeze School. Ms. Andrews was promoted to Fashion Market Editor earlier this year.
Ms. Andrews has searched for makeover candidates on the streets of New York, reported from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and put together Gossip Girl and Sex and the City style segments for Good Morning America, among other accomplishments that without doubt require dedication and diligence.
Glamour Magazine was founded in 1939 as Glamour of Hollywood promising readers “the Hollywood way to fashion, beauty and charm.” It is known for its pioneering abortion coverage (for which it won an award in 1992), for being the first to “address its female readers from the viewpoint of work outside the home” and for being the first to put an African American woman on its cover.
Glamour Magazine can boast more than 2 million readers and hosts the yearly “Glamour Woman of the Year Awards” and “Glamour Top College Woman Awards”.
